La Gilardie se encuentra en una aldea muy pequeña, a 3 km de San Aulaye, en el departamento de la Dordoña. La casa forma parte de una antigua granja, Perigordiense renovado. Los propietarios viven en la otra parte.

The entrance to the cottage is through a double door leading into the very spacious, beamed living room with a comfortable 3-piece suite, coffee table, dining table and chairs and a TV (French) VCR, DVD player and radio/CD hi-fi. (Good collection of Videos, DVDs and CDs).
The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge (with a small freezer), gas cooker and hood, microwave, coffee machine, toaster etc.

There are two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed (1, 80 m wide), large wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables. The other bedroom has two single beds (plus a comfortable put-you-up for a fifth person), wardrobe and bedside table. Both bedrooms have low windows and are very well furnished.

The bathroom has a shower, WC and handbasin, and because there is plenty of room, a washing machine.

The cottage has a small private garden and a well furnished terrace with an electrically operated awning, BBQ, swing and table and chairs. The large 1 acre garden is shared with the owners.

La Gilardie is 3 km from St. Aulaye, a small town with it's 13th century Chateau Bastide, supermarket, bank, post office, doctors (even a dentist!), bars, bakers, hairdressers etc.

Our little hamlet is in the Forêt de la Double, the ancient haunt of thieves and cattle rustlers, a beautiful place to relax, go for walks or watch buzzards and hen harriers as they hunt, or even see (if you are lucky) a wild boar.
St. Aulaye has a river beach, and not far away is the beautiful swimming lake of La Jemaye. A very well equipped leisure centre is a few miles away. Golf, horse riding, bicycle hiring and canoeing are all within easy reach.
